Assistant Director of Engineering

About the role

The Assistant Director of Engineering supports the Director in overseeing the engineering department of a resort, ensuring compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards. This senior position also participates in the resort's emergency response team and manages daily operations and maintenance activities.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain Fire Life Health Safety Security and Sustainability standards and achieve 100% on health and safety audits.
• Oversee day‑to‑day office duties, administration, and inventory of tools and equipment.
• Report actions from local authority inspections to the Director of Engineering.
• Implement preventive maintenance for all hotel systems, including life‑safety equipment.
• Coordinate maintenance requests, assign tasks to trades, and track completion and reporting.
• Conduct weekly tours of kitchens, restaurants, bars, and function rooms to ensure health, safety, and maintenance standards.
• Lead the engineering team in the Director’s absence and enforce discipline according to hotel policies.
• Support performance management, training needs identification, and staff development.
