Mechanical Engineer – World Record Drone Project

About the role

OneSec is developing AI‑powered delivery drones and has built an experimental drone that set a new world record for flight duration. As a Mechanical Engineer you will own key mechanical design aspects and help push the record towards a six‑hour flight.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise the drone’s mechanical structure in SolidWorks, focusing on weight reduction while maintaining strength and stiffness.
• Produce and integrate mounts, enclosures, battery structures, landing components and propulsion‑system interfaces using 3D printing, CNC machining, composites and other rapid‑prototyping methods.
• Assemble, modify and repair physical prototypes in the workshop and conduct structural, vibration, endurance and flight‑related tests.
• Analyse failures, rapidly redesign components based on test results and collaborate closely with electrical, propulsion and flight‑control engineers.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics or a related technical field.
• Strong hands‑on experience with CAD (SolidWorks or equivalent) and manufacturing of designed parts.
• Familiarity with 3D printing, rapid prototyping and workshop tools such as drills, Dremels, saws and adhesives.
• Good understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, fasteners, tolerances and structural loads.
