About the role
The Security Operations Centre (SOC) Assistant supports the United Nations Security Management System (UNSMS) in Turkey. Working on a 24/7 shift basis at the UN Duty Station in Ankara, the role ensures continuous monitoring and coordination of security and safety communications using the Security Communications System (SCS).
Key responsibilities
- Receive, transmit and relay security and safety messages via all identified communication channels.
- Escalate notifications of incidents through defined channels and support follow‑up actions.
- Monitor movement of field missions and personnel using the SCS in line with Security Risk Management (SRM) procedures and local SOPs.
- Provide immediate support to UNSMS personnel during incidents, including alerting response teams, maintaining communication links, and recording all related information.
- Notify relevant UNSMS security focal points when personnel are involved in incidents.
- Ensure proper usage of the SCS, guide users on SOP compliance, and verify system operational status.
- Report any system anomalies to the appropriate authority.
- Undertake personnel headcount tasks as instructed by senior security officials.
Required profile
- Ability to work on a rotating 24/7 shift schedule.
- Comfortable working in a multicultural environment with UN staff and partners.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established SOPs.
Required skills
- Proficiency in operating the Security Communications System (SCS).
- Familiarity with security communication protocols and incident escalation procedures.
