Senior Protection Associate – Protection Coordination

About the role

The Senior Protection Associate will support IOM’s humanitarian protection programming in Turkey, focusing on emergency case management, mental health and psychosocial support, and voluntary return services. Based in Gaziantep, the role contributes to safeguarding migrants and refugees, especially those at risk of trafficking, gender‑based violence and other protection threats.

Key responsibilities

• Implement protection programmes through Emergency Case Management, MHPSS and Voluntary Return & Advisory Desks.
• Conduct outreach, identify and refer individuals with protection needs, including victims of trafficking and survivors of GBV.
• Ensure coordination of referral pathways with partners and stakeholders in line with protection principles.
• Provide capacity‑building and training for staff, partners and local authorities on protection standards.
• Monitor and report on protection activities, ensuring quality, consistency and accessibility of services.

Required profile

• Proven experience in humanitarian protection, migration or related fields.
• Knowledge of protection risks such as trafficking, GBV and socio‑economic vulnerabilities.
• Ability to work in emergency contexts and coordinate multi‑stakeholder responses.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Turkish or Arabic is an asset.
