Senior Environmental Consultant (Energy & Infrastructure)

About the role

RINA is seeking a Senior Environmental (and/or Social) Consultant to lead the assessment and mitigation of environmental and social risks for energy, infrastructure and industrial projects. The role involves delivering permitting services, conducting impact studies, and ensuring compliance with Italian, European and financing standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead comprehensive environmental and social impact assessments for large‑scale projects, covering air quality, water resources and biodiversity.
• Conduct due diligence, audits and compliance assessments to verify adherence to regulations and financing requirements.
• Utilise advanced modelling techniques to analyse pollutant dispersion, deposition patterns and related environmental effects.
• Develop and implement tailored mitigation strategies, integrating them into project plans and financing agreements.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—including engineers, economists and legal advisors—to provide expert environmental input throughout the project lifecycle.
• Mentor junior consultants and foster a collaborative team environment.
• Prepare detailed reports for investors, financiers and regulatory authorities, communicating findings, risks and mitigation measures.

Required profile

• University degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Extensive experience (senior level) in environmental and/or social impact assessment for energy, infrastructure or industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of Italian, European and international environmental regulations and project financing standards.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex assessments.
