Accountant - Inventory and Fixed Assets

About the role

Mattel is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Accountant to join its Accounting team in Istanbul. The role suits someone with a few years of experience who wants to deepen their technical accounting knowledge in a multinational setting. It centres on inventory accounting and fixed assets, with support for month-end closing, balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger work and statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Inventory accounting: run monthly reconciliations between the General Ledger, inventory subledger, warehouse records and other systems, investigate differences and unusual transactions, and account for inventory in transit, receipts, adjustments, returns and write-offs
• Prepare and post inventory-related month-end journal entries and accruals
• Maintain accurate fixed asset records, ensure correct categorisation and depreciation, monitor assets under construction and prepare fixed asset schedules for audits
• Take part in monthly, quarterly and year-end closing, post journal entries, accruals and adjustments, and reconcile balance sheet accounts
• Support the Accounting Manager and other finance colleagues with ad hoc analyses, projects and process improvements, and back up the team when needed

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or a related field
• About 2-4 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a multinational or structured corporate environment
• Good understanding of accounting fundamentals and the link between income statement, balance sheet and General Ledger
• Very good command of written and spoken English
• Analytical, accurate and organized, able to handle multiple deadlines during closing periods

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel, including formulas, PivotTables, lookups and data analysis
• ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP or similar (an advantage)
• Exposure to US GAAP and/or IFRS (an advantage)

• Gross annual salary range of TRY 1,520,000 - 1,805,000
