AI Engineer - Core

About the role

Hilbert is seeking an AI Engineer to build production‑grade AI systems end‑to‑end for its demand intelligence platform. You will own core components of the AI stack, design agent architectures, and ensure reliable, fast, and cost‑effective operation in a fast‑moving startup environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement evaluation harnesses, metrics, golden datasets, and regression gates for multi‑step agent trajectories.
• Architect agent workflows using LangChain, LangGraph or equivalent, including state memory, routing, tool registries and recovery paths.
• Operate systems in production: tracing, monitoring, latency and cost budgeting, and provide on‑call support.
• Diagnose production failures such as hallucinations, tool misuse, retrieval misses and turn them into durable fixes and tests.
• Set technical standards for agent work, review designs and define reusable patterns.

Required profile

• 4+ years of production software engineering experience with APIs, services and data infrastructure.
• 2+ years building LLM or agentic systems that have shipped to real users.
• Hands‑on experience with LangChain, LangGraph or comparable orchestration frameworks.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical decisions to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work autonomously, thrive in ambiguity and move at startup speed.
