Assistant Manager - HSE

About the role

The Assistant Manager - HSE is responsible for creating, establishing and sustaining a healthy, safe and environmentally friendly working environment for all employees, within legal obligations and company standards. The role covers KPI tracking, training, audits, risk management, compliance and budget control for the plant.

Key responsibilities

• Track HSE KPIs monthly and report scorecards to local and regional teams
• Communicate HSE matters, policy changes, safety alerts and incidents to build a proactive safety culture
• Develop and run the plant HSE training agenda and awareness events
• Lead internal HSE audits, organise site tours and enforce safety procedures
• Execute risk mitigation plans and monitor plant-wide safety compliance, using the disciplinary matrix when needed
• Ensure compliance of critical plant systems such as firefighting and wastewater treatment facilities
• Take part in incident elimination processes, conduct daily safety walks and coach associates
• Oversee prioritisation of HSE action plans and resource allocation
• Ensure compliance with Food Safety, HSE, OHSAS, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and Hygienic Design standards
• Control HSE maintenance and project budgets, including purchasing, inventory and spare parts

Required profile

• University degree in Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on HSE experience, preferably in a multinational manufacturing or FMCG plant
• Proven track record leading teams, managing projects and coordinating action plans
• Valid Occupational Safety Certificate (C or B class is a plus)
• Advanced English; strong problem-solving, strategic decision-making and cross-departmental communication

Required skills

• Deep understanding of ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and local HSE regulations
• Experience with Hygienic Design, wastewater treatment and fire safety infrastructure
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and reporting tools
