Blockchain Engineer

About the role

ING's Digital Asset Services team is seeking a Blockchain Engineer to design and develop next‑generation digital asset capabilities. You will work on scalable backend services, wallet management, and integration with external blockchain networks.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop enterprise‑grade backend services using Java and micro‑service architecture.
• Implement blockchain business logic, including smart‑contract interactions, asset transfers, and wallet management.
• Build integrations with digital‑asset custody providers and external blockchain infrastructure.
• Ensure high availability, security, performance, and maintainability of services.
• Participate in architecture reviews, operational readiness, and compliance activities.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software engineering, solution design, or architecture experience.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience working in Agile environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Fluent English (C1 level or above).

Required skills

• Java (preferred), Kotlin, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Microservices Architecture.
• Event‑driven architectures, Kafka, RabbitMQ or similar messaging.
• SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Containerization (Docker), Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, Git.
• Understanding of distributed systems, system integration, API design, scalability patterns.
