Chief Accountant – Finance Leadership

About the role

Ajax Systems is seeking a senior finance professional to lead its accounting function for the Turkish entity operating in the Desbas Free Zone. The Chief Accountant will be responsible for the full spectrum of financial reporting, tax compliance, and operational controls while guiding a small finance team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, mentor and develop a team of two finance and accounting professionals, organizing workload and ensuring high‑quality output.
• Take end‑to‑end responsibility for tax, statutory and Group Management/IFRS reporting, and supervise successful Big 4 audit processes.
• Play a key role in designing, implementing and rolling out SAP for the local entity.
• Reconcile customs records with local bookkeeping and ensure compliance with Desbas Free Zone accounting rules.
• Oversee scrapping processes, scrap accounting and the return of components to suppliers.
• Conduct high‑level reviews of payroll calculations, social security compliance and proper reflection in accounting.
• Maintain direct liaison with Turkish tax authorities, customs officials and Free Zone administration.
• Monitor transfer‑pricing compliance and control gross margin profitability for the entity.
• Execute ad‑hoc finance, operational or business tasks as assigned by senior management.

Required profile

• Fluent/native Turkish language skills (essential for interaction with authorities).
• Upper‑intermediate to advanced English proficiency.
• Proven experience in finance/accounting within a manufacturing or technology environment.
• Hands‑on experience with tax, customs, Big 4 audit coordination and IFRS reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a small finance team and manage cross‑functional projects.
• Knowledge of transfer‑pricing rules and free‑zone regulatory requirements.
