Chief Accountant – Istanbul, Turkey

About the role

Codognotto is seeking an experienced Chief Accountant to lead the accounting and statutory compliance functions for its Turkish operations based in Bahçeşehir, Istanbul. The role involves overseeing all financial transactions, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the company’s financial planning within a fast‑growing international logistics group.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting activities, including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
• Prepare periodic financial statements, management reports and accounting reports for local and group management.
• Control cash flow, budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Prepare and submit all statutory tax declarations (VAT, Withholding, Stamp, Provisional and Corporate Tax).
• Maintain compliance with Turkish accounting, tax and statutory regulations.
• Coordinate with tax offices, social security institutions, external auditors and tax advisors.
• Issue and reconcile purchase and sales invoices, and perform customer and supplier reconciliations.
• Support personnel administrative processes, including SGK registrations and terminations.
• Develop and maintain internal accounting procedures and controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or a related field.
• Certified Public Accountant (SMMM) qualification strongly preferred.
• Proven senior accounting experience, preferably in logistics, transportation or freight forwarding.
• In‑depth knowledge of Turkish accounting standards and tax legislation.
• Ability to work independently and manage a team.
