Direct Purchasing Manager – Chemicals & Minerals

About the role

We are seeking a Direct Purchasing Manager to lead the procurement of chemicals, minerals and packaging materials for a global manufacturing group. The role is responsible for end‑to‑end purchase‑to‑pay processes, supplier qualification and cost optimisation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full P2P cycle (PR → PO), issue RFQs, allocate suppliers and keep ERP data up‑to‑date.
• Source, qualify and develop dual‑sourcing strategies for chemicals, minerals and packaging supplies.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms and contracts to achieve measurable total‑cost‑of‑ownership savings.
• Monitor supplier performance (quality, delivery/OTIF), drive corrective actions and coordinate audits.
• Maintain clean ERP records, dashboards and audit readiness, and present results to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven hands‑on experience in direct purchasing of chemicals and minerals within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong negotiation, supplier development and contract management capabilities.
• Solid experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel/data analysis.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
• Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Engineering.
