Environmental and Social (E&S) Manager

About the role

The Environmental and Social (E&S) Manager at ACWA Power Türkiye ensures that all Turkish assets – power plants, transmission lines, renewable projects and O&M activities – comply with Turkish regulations and the strict standards of international lenders such as IFC, EBRD and Equator Principles institutions.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Turkish environmental laws and international lender standards (IFC, EBRD, Equator Principles).
• Implement and maintain the project Environmental & Social Management System (ESMS).
• Manage and renew environmental permits and approvals.
• Monitor environmental impacts including air, water, waste, noise and biodiversity.
• Oversee contractor E&S performance (EPC and O&M) and conduct site inspections, audits and walkovers.
• Stop non‑compliant activities, enforce corrective actions and manage community engagement through the Stakeholder Engagement Plan.
• Operate the grievance mechanism for communities and workers.
• Prepare E&S reports for lenders, regulators and audits.
• Advise project leadership on E&S risks and deliver training and awareness to staff and contractors.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, Social Sciences or related field.
• 8+ years experience in environmental & social management, with at least 4 years site‑based experience on energy, infrastructure or construction projects.
• Proven experience working with international lenders and audits.
• Fluent in English and Turkish, both written and spoken.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of IFC Performance Standards.
• Experience with EBRD / Equator Principles requirements.
• Understanding of Turkish environmental and labor regulations.
• Implementation and management of Environmental & Social Management Systems (ESMS).
• Stakeholder engagement and grievance mechanism management.
