Full Stack Engineer - Geospatial Applications

About the role

Calico Teknoloji is looking for a Full Stack Engineer with full-stack development experience, with an emphasis on geospatial applications. The role covers building and maintaining software across the company's software stack, turning engineering requirements into working software, and designing real-time map-based interfaces for high-volume sensor data.

Key responsibilities

• Implement new features and maintain existing software across the Calico Teknoloji software stack.
• Collaborate with engineers and translate their requirements and techniques into modern data processing pipelines and applications.
• Read ICDs provided by a cross-functional engineering team and turn them into functioning software.
• Deploy and orchestrate services in an agile fashion.
• Solve technical problems in the field of geospatial applications.
• Write and maintain documentation for the software stack.
• Design and build real-time map-based interfaces for performant rendering and visualization of high-volume sensor data.
• Design responsive user interfaces.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related field.
• In-depth knowledge of Python; knowledge of Go is a huge plus.
• Geospatial development experience with PostGIS; experience with geospatial data (vector, raster, GeoJSON, shapefile) is a huge plus.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD.

Required skills

• Frameworks such as Django; excellent foundations in REST and WebSockets.
• Postgres or similar, SQL and ORMs; good understanding of ETL processes.
• Containerization (especially Docker) and hot-reloading; basic understanding of TCP/HTTP, routing, reverse proxying and load balancing.
• Good knowledge of Linux; HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and TypeScript.
• MapLibre or another web-mapping library, and React.
• Preferred: GDAL, geospatial Python stack (shapely, rasterio, gdal, ogr), HTMX, QGIS, imagery data handling and GIS concepts.
