Game & Narrative Designer

About the role

Elyzio, a next‑generation game studio backed by $2M pre‑seed funding, is looking for a senior Game & Narrative Designer to shape its upcoming narrative adventure, Pera Coda. The role bridges gameplay design and storytelling, allowing you to leverage strengths in either discipline while collaborating with a team of industry veterans.

Key responsibilities

• Design, test, tune, and iterate core gameplay mechanics and systems.
• Create multi‑solution puzzles with visible consequences.
• Design and balance narrative systems such as character traits, skills, and RPG‑style progression.
• Write sharp, character‑driven dialogue in a mature, literary tone.
• Script dialogue and events within the engine or narrative tool, run playtests, and refine pacing and clarity.
• Structure content with strong cliffhangers, reveals, and replayable branches.
• Document all systems, content, and design decisions in the Game Design Document (GDD).

Required profile

• 5+ years of demonstrable game design and/or narrative design experience on a shipped or in‑development title.
• Instinct for core gameplay mechanics, pacing, and progression.
• Hands‑on experience with branching narrative and choice‑and‑consequence systems.
• Strong writing craft with control over voice, subtext, and tone.
• Analytical and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Comfort working with narrative or scripting tools/engines (e.g., Unreal, articy:draft, Yarn).
• Familiarity with Istanbul, Turkish culture, or noir/crime storytelling.
• Deep passion for narrative‑driven point‑and‑click adventure and RPG games.
• Professional fluency in English and Turkish.
