Import Purchasing Specialist

About the role

The Import Purchasing Specialist manages the end-to-end import process for products bought from domestic and international suppliers. The role covers logistics and customs clearance, coordination with suppliers and freight forwarders, and cost analysis of import shipments.

Key responsibilities

• Organize logistics and customs clearance for product purchases from domestic and international suppliers.
• Monitor and coordinate import operations from order placement through final delivery.
• Review and archive bills of lading, invoices, packing lists and other foreign trade documents.
• Enter import data accurately and completely into the company's systems.
• Analyze customs duties and other import expenses, and carry out product-level cost analyses.
• Monitor shipment costs, prepare reports, and coordinate with suppliers, customs brokers and freight forwarders.
• Monitor payment processes and prepare payment plans, and research freight rates and compare quotations.
• Ensure imports are completed on time and in compliance with regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field from an accredited university.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in import operations and purchasing.
• Sound knowledge of customs regulations, foreign trade practices and international transport processes.
• Ability to monitor and coordinate import operations daily.
• Experience in documentation, cost analysis and reporting.
• Good command of written and spoken English, strong planning and follow-up skills, and attention to detail.
