Legal Counsel – Maritime & Commercial Law

About the role

We are seeking a Legal Counsel to join the Legal and Compliance Counsel Department of DİTAŞ Deniz İşletmeciliği ve Tankerciliği A.Ş., a leading maritime transport company in Turkey. The role involves providing legal support across corporate, commercial, maritime and financing matters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on corporate, commercial, maritime and contractual issues.
• Draft, review, negotiate and manage commercial contracts, charter parties, vessel sale‑purchase agreements and financing documents.
• Advise on loan agreements, security documents, guarantees and other financial arrangements.
• Identify, assess and mitigate legal risks arising from business operations.
• Support corporate governance and ensure compliance with laws, regulations and internal policies.
• Manage disputes, claims and litigation in coordination with external counsel.
• Liaise with law firms, regulators, business partners, insurers and other stakeholders.
• Monitor legislative changes and advise management on their impact.
• Conduct legal research and prepare opinions, reports and internal guidance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.); LL.M. is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of professional legal experience, preferably in a reputable law firm or in‑house role.
• Strong background in Maritime Law, Contract Law, Commercial Law and financial agreements.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
• Analytical, solution‑oriented mindset with ability to manage legal risks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast‑paced corporate environment.
