Mechanical Purchasing Specialist

About the role

This role develops and implements purchasing and sourcing strategies for mechanical parts and components, in line with company objectives and production requirements. It covers planning purchase needs for new products and projects, qualifying suppliers for serial production and establishing commercial agreements.

Key responsibilities

• Plan purchasing requirements for new products and projects and qualify suppliers for serial production
• Manage sourcing of parts made by machining and sheet metal processing/forming
• Evaluate suppliers and quotations for processes such as CNC turning and milling, laser cutting, punching, bending, stamping and welding, considering technical drawings, material specs, tolerances and quality requirements
• Assess suppliers on technical capability, capacity, quality, cost and delivery performance
• Conduct cost analyses, negotiate price, lead time, payment terms and quality, and achieve savings through alternative sourcing and process improvement
• Monitor market developments, new technologies and supplier capabilities, and manage the supplier base according to category and sourcing strategies
• Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Planning and Production teams on technical and commercial matters

Required profile

• University degree in Engineering or a related field; Mechanical Engineering preferred
• At least 2-3 years of experience in mechanical purchasing, including machined and formed metal parts
• Experience in supplier evaluation, quotation and cost analysis, and commercial negotiations
• Defence, electronics manufacturing or automotive experience is an advantage
• Currently living in Ankara or willing to relocate

Required skills

• Knowledge of machining and sheet metal processes (CNC turning and milling, laser cutting, punching, bending, stamping, welding)
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, tolerances and material specifications
• Good knowledge of MS Office and ERP systems
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, including working under pressure and in cross-functional teams
• Good command of written and spoken English
