Multimodal Transportation Specialist

About the role

A Multimodal Transportation Specialist is sought for the Multimodal Transportation Department, where they play an active part in planning, coordinating and executing international freight forwarding operations. The specialist coordinates customers, carriers, freight forwarders, agents and other logistics partners so that shipments are delivered efficiently, accurately and in line with agreed terms.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate international multimodal transportation according to customer requirements and freight forwarding agreements.
• Calculate transportation rates and take part in tender and quotation processes.
• Source, evaluate and select carriers, freight forwarders, agents and contractors, and negotiate rates and service conditions.
• Prepare and manage transport orders and shipment milestones in the transportation management system, and track shipment progress.
• Monitor loading, unloading, transshipment, storage and delivery, and proactively manage delays, border-crossing issues, storage, demurrage, detention and additional charges.
• Coordinate with customers, carriers, agents and ports, and monitor invoices and payment issues.
• Keep shipping and customer/contractor documentation and records complete and up to date.
• Develop customer and contractor relationships, prepare business development plans and analyse performance to propose improvements.

Required profile

• Preferably a university degree in Logistics, International Trade, Transportation, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field.
• Preferably 1-3 years of experience in transport logistics or freight forwarding.
• Strong understanding of international transportation processes and of shippers, consignees, carriers and freight forwarders.
• Knowledge of shipping and customs documentation, including bills of lading, and of customs guarantees and international transport procedures.
• Turkish native or C2 level, English B2 or above; Russian preferred.

Required skills

• Strong working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Experience with CRM systems and transportation management tools is an advantage.
• Negotiation, business communication, problem solving and multitasking abilities.
