New Model & Spec Control Engineer

About the role

The New Model & Spec Control Engineer will support the development and launch of new vehicle models and model year updates within a production environment. This role ensures that trial parts, certification vehicles, and production processes meet technical specifications and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Support and assist processes for new model and model year change projects in the production plant.
• Plan the arrival of trial parts and coordinate with Purchasing, Logistics, Material Supply, and Production departments.
• Plan and support the production of certification vehicles, ensuring compliance with type‑approval requirements.
• Develop project timelines for trial vehicle production and report progress to stakeholders.
• Prepare and update process documents and technical specification sheets required for mass production.
• Support the development and implementation of production processes, equipment, and workflow improvements for new models.
• Prepare regular reports and project status presentations for management reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial Design, Automotive preferred).
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Full‑vehicle understanding of powertrain, frame, suspension, braking, electrical/electronics, and emission systems (motorcycle experience preferred).
• Excellent command of written and spoken English.
• B Class driving licence; good command of Japanese is desirable.
• Active motorcycle riding experience or strong interest in motorcycles is an asset.

Required skills

• 2D drawing and 3D CAD modelling (CATIA, SolidWorks).
• Cost breakdown and BOM analysis.
• Performance, quality, environmental and reliability testing.
• Root‑cause analysis of test failures and development of countermeasures.
• Knowledge of materials and processes: metals, plastics, rubber, composites, welding, casting, forging, machining, surface treatments and coatings.
