Purchasing Engineer

About the role

CATL is seeking a Purchasing Engineer to manage end‑to‑end sourcing and procurement of indirect materials and services for its new factory in Bursa, Turkey. The role focuses on cost‑effective, high‑quality procurement while supporting operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Source, evaluate and procure indirect materials such as safety equipment, tools, office supplies and cleaning materials.
• Manage MRO categories, small equipment modifications and facility upgrades to minimise downtime.
• Identify, assess and onboard reliable local suppliers, leading negotiations on pricing, terms and contracts.
• Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and maintain comprehensive procurement records.
• Monitor market trends, collaborate with warehouse and operations teams to optimise inventory levels.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of procurement experience, preferably in manufacturing or MRO sourcing.
• Proven experience managing local suppliers in Turkey.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to manage costs and supplier performance.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills in English and Turkish.

Required skills

• Proficiency with procurement/ERP systems such as SAP and Ariba.
• Advanced Excel skills for data analysis.
• Microsoft Office Suite competence.
