R&D and Innovation Manager

About the role

Farplas seeks an experienced R&D and Innovation Manager to lead the development of its technology roadmap, drive innovation projects and strengthen manufacturing capabilities across the automotive sector.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage the innovation and industrial technology roadmap aligned with strategic objectives.
• Monitor automotive and advanced manufacturing trends to identify new technology opportunities.
• Translate shop‑floor needs and technical challenges into concrete innovation projects.
• Research, evaluate and pilot emerging technologies, smart automation and AI‑enabled manufacturing solutions.
• Conduct feasibility studies, prototype development and scale successful pilots across operations.
• Manage project prioritisation, budgeting, resource planning and performance reporting.
• Foster cross‑functional collaboration among R&D, manufacturing, quality, IT and operational excellence teams.
• Build partnerships with universities, research centres, startups and technology suppliers.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Industrial, Materials Engineering or related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in automotive or advanced manufacturing environments.
• Proven track record of leading technology development, industrial innovation or advanced manufacturing projects.
• Hands‑on experience working closely with shop‑floor teams and translating technical needs into projects.
• Strong strategic, analytical and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Leadership ability to develop teams and promote a collaborative culture.
• Advanced proficiency in English and effective communication in an international setting.
