Senior AI Platform / DevTool Engineer

About the role

Progress Partners is seeking a Senior AI Platform / DevTool Engineer to design and deliver reusable AI tooling, automation, and shared services that accelerate internal and external teams. This platform‑focused role empowers you to turn scattered AI usage into a cohesive engineering capability.

Key responsibilities

• Build internal AI tools and workflow automation that eliminate repetitive manual work across Engineering, Product, QA, and Design.
• Implement RAG‑based knowledge systems to make product specs, technical docs, and architecture decisions searchable and actionable.
• Create reusable AI‑assisted SDLC workflows, from product briefs to test scenarios and release documentation.
• Evaluate and integrate coding assistants, design‑to‑code tooling, and other AI‑enabled developer tools where they provide real leverage.
• Define secure, observable, and cost‑aware patterns for AI tooling and own usage, reliability, and cost monitoring.

Required profile

• 6+ years in software engineering, platform engineering, or developer tooling.
• 2+ years building AI‑powered tools, LLM‑based systems, or RAG solutions.
• Proven track record of shipping reliable, maintainable tools adopted by other engineers.
• Experience designing APIs, SDKs, or reusable internal services.
• Strong written communication and ability to work autonomously in a remote, async environment.

Required skills

• RAG architectures, embeddings, vector databases, and retrieval workflows.
• API and SDK design.
• Familiarity with LangChain, LlamaIndex, Vercel AI SDK or similar frameworks.
• Integration experience with GitHub, Jira, Slack, Confluence, Linear, or CI/CD pipelines.
