Senior Geospatial Data Engineer

About the role

Join Doktar to design, build, and operate scalable geospatial data pipelines that turn satellite, climate, and environmental data into reliable analytical products for agriculture, water security, and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain pipelines for ingesting, processing and serving large raster, vector and time‑series datasets.
• Develop production‑grade geospatial workflows for water balance, evapotranspiration, drought, groundwater and crop stress analysis.
• Manage the CropMap geospatial database, ensuring performance, scalability and data integrity.
• Implement testing, validation, versioning, monitoring and quality‑control across pipelines.
• Operationalise methods from analysts and data scientists into APIs and data products for downstream consumption.

Required profile

• 5+ years of senior‑level experience in geospatial data engineering or large‑scale Earth observation processing.
• Strong Python and SQL programming skills with a track record of production‑ready pipelines.
• Hands‑on expertise with PostgreSQL/PostGIS, GDAL, Rasterio, GeoPandas, Xarray/Rioxarray and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
• Experience processing satellite datasets such as Sentinel, Landsat, MODIS, GRACE, ERA5 or CHIRPS.
• Proven ability to optimise pipelines for performance, reliability and cloud cost.
