Senior NLP/LLM/LLMOps Data Scientist

About the role

Join ING's global Analytics Engineering organization to build trustworthy AI for one of Europe’s leading banks. You will develop conversational AI, Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, and intelligent agent‑assist capabilities that support customer‑facing and operational teams across multiple countries.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and operationalize production‑grade NLP and Generative AI solutions, including conversational agents and RAG pipelines.
• Collaborate with ML Engineers, product teams, and business stakeholders to deliver AI capabilities for KYC, document understanding, and knowledge‑intensive workflows.
• Implement LLMOps practices: evaluation, monitoring, experimentation, and continuous optimization of large language model applications.
• Ensure AI solutions meet regulatory requirements for reliability, explainability, and auditability.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience in NLP, Information Retrieval, Machine Learning, or Generative AI.
• Proven track record of building and deploying production‑grade NLP or LLM‑based applications.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain AI concepts to technical and business audiences.
• Fluent English.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• Deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Experience with Transformers, embeddings, vector search, and RAG architectures.
• Familiarity with GCP, Vertex AI, LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face.
• Knowledge of CI/CD, CD4ML, MLOps, and LLMOps practices.
