Senior Site Reliability Engineer (Contractor)

About the role

Grid Dynamics is hiring a Site Reliability Engineer as a contractor to champion the availability, performance and scaling of customer-facing production services across its clients' global infrastructure and Alibaba Cloud environments. You will build and operate observability systems that analyse billions of metrics per minute, supporting hundreds of millions of users worldwide. Working hours overlap with CST time zone.

Key responsibilities

• Own, monitor and defend the availability, latency and performance metrics (SLIs/SLOs) of production services.
• Maintain and optimise production environments, including AliCloud services (ACK Kubernetes, ECS, Serverless, RDS).
• Manage external-facing networking, content delivery and load balancing (SLB/ALB, Global Traffic Manager, AliCloud CDN) for minimal latency.
• Maintain zero-downtime deployment pipelines; Spinnaker experience is a plus.
• Build dashboards and alerting with Prometheus, Grafana and AliCloud Log Service (SLS).
• Drive incident response and root-cause analysis across software, systems, automation and process.

Required profile

• Proven experience developing production-grade software in Python; Bash, Go and Rust scripting exposure is a plus.
• Hands-on experience deploying and operating applications on Alibaba Cloud, with strong ACK (Kubernetes) experience.
• Solid experience with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code.
• Experience with the Prometheus ecosystem and incident response.

Nice to have

• Cross-border optimisation with AliCloud CEN or Express Connect.
• Data security with AliCloud RAM, KMS and compliance (ISO 27001, SOC2, local data privacy laws).
• Alibaba Cloud ACP or ACE certification.
