Airfreight Export Specialist

About the role

The Airfreight Export Specialist manages export shipments on a door-to-door basis, following the "One File, One Operator" principle. The role coordinates the end-to-end shipment process, ensures operational excellence and accurate financial management, and delivers a positive customer experience while maximising profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Manage airfreight export shipments from pick-up through final delivery.
• Create and maintain shipment files, HAWBs, bookings, export documentation and milestone data in CargoWise One (CW1).
• Coordinate with airlines, airport and destination offices, gateway teams and network partners.
• Handle shipment exceptions, flight disruptions, offloads, customs delays and other irregularities, driving timely service recovery.
• Ensure accurate cost, revenue, accrual, WIP and invoicing, and monitor KPIs such as data quality, billing timeliness, revenue leakage and file profitability.
• Prepare spot quotations and customer offers, support new customer implementations and account transitions, and ensure Life Sciences & Healthcare shipments comply with GxP standards.
• Support business development for assigned accounts and promote relevant DHL services.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree.
• At least 3 years of airfreight export operations experience, with strong knowledge of airline booking, export customs and international airfreight operations.
• Excellent written and verbal English.
• Strong commercial and financial mindset, and proven ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• IATA Dangerous Goods certification preferred; residence in Istanbul required.

Required skills

• CargoWise One (CW1) and digital freight forwarding systems preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
