Azure Architect

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Azure Architect to lead the Azure component of a complex, multi‑platform project. You will design and govern integration architecture for enterprise observability, ITSM, monitoring, and developer portal systems.

Key responsibilities

• Define integration architecture covering API contracts, data models, authentication patterns, and event flows linking Backstage with observability, ITSM and monitoring platforms.
• Deliver monitoring integration by embedding Grafana/LGTM dashboards into catalog entities with proper authentication passthrough.
• Design and implement ArgoCD integration, including plugin, API authentication, entity‑annotation mapping and RBAC projection.
• Configure announcements and notifications integration, setting up email and Teams webhooks and managing publisher RBAC.
• Integrate read‑only metadata collectors for Azure SQL, Cosmos DB and Postgres, and enable search via Elasticsearch/pgsearch.
• Develop SDD document generation from repository/catalog metadata and IaC module outputs triggered by Backstage actions.
• Produce dashboards and reporting views across Backstage, infrastructure and integration workstreams.
• Collaborate with Backstage, Azure and VMware architects to ensure proper telemetry and metadata exposure.

Required profile

• 3+ years experience architecting system integrations involving Azure and Azure DevOps.
• Strong knowledge of Azure/Entra authentication mechanisms.
• Background integrating cloud databases (Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Postgres) for metadata and observability.
• Proven track record leading projects with complex Azure‑based services and third‑party integrations such as VMware.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher.
