Backend Developer

About the role

PlusMinusOne is looking for a Backend Developer to build and operate backend services for its mobile and web products. You will work in a hybrid environment, collaborating with teams in San Francisco and Istanbul to deliver high‑quality experiences to millions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain production backend services using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Create and optimize PostgreSQL schemas, indexes, and queries; manage Redis caching.
• Build and document REST APIs and integrate third‑party services.
• Deploy, scale, and monitor services on Kubernetes (EKS) using Docker containers.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure‑as‑Code with Terraform.
• Own monitoring, alerting, and debugging of services in production (Prometheus, Grafana).
• Contribute to event and data pipelines (Kafka, CDC, ClickHouse/BigQuery) and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience building production backend services with Node.js/TypeScript.
• Strong analytical skills, ability to work in an agile team, and product‑mindset.
• Comfortable with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS services (EKS, RDS, S3, IAM, Secrets Manager).
• Experience with clean architecture and scalable system design.
