Data Governance Executive

About the role

A Data Governance Executive is sought to bridge the gap between high-level business strategy and detailed data work, driving cross-domain data integrity and sustainable compliance across the data ecosystem. The role works closely with data owners and stewards to keep the data catalog accurate, resolve data quality issues and report on governance progress.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the business glossary by aligning business terms with data owners and stewards and mapping them to underlying data assets
• Keep the data catalog accurate and growing through metadata documentation, enabling data discovery and self-service understanding
• Resolve data quality issues from root-cause analysis to coordination of remediation with owners, stewards and IT teams, and report on health metrics
• Work with data owners and stewards to guide them, gather requirements and track agreed actions
• Apply governance policies, ownership models and data classification standards in daily business and technical workflows
• Produce reports on glossary coverage, data quality trends, governance progress and maturity for key stakeholders
• Identify and execute continuous improvements to data governance tools, frameworks and methodologies
• Use AI tools with discretion, ensuring clear judgment on data inputs to prevent unauthorized sharing of sensitive data

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Information Management or a related field
• 5+ years of professional experience in a data management role within the banking sector
• Good understanding of banking products, processes and data domains such as customer, accounts, loans, risk, finance and digital services
• Proven track record of data governance initiatives, including data catalogs, data lineage mapping and data quality, privacy and classification frameworks
• Strong facilitation and communication skills, able to turn complex technical topics into business-friendly language
• Curiosity about emerging AI governance practices and how AI/ML models use data

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with metadata management or data governance platforms such as Collibra, Informatica, OpenMetadata or DataHub
• Ability to write clear technical documentation
• Knowledge of data governance frameworks, data lifecycle management and compliance regulations such as KVKK and GDPR
