Financial Risk Management Consultant

About the role

KPMG is looking for a Financial Risk Management Consultant for its Financial Services Advisory team. The consultant takes an active role mainly in credit risk, market risk and valuation projects, and supports consulting teams across the financial services sector.

Key responsibilities

• Research, assess, analyse and document financial reporting and operational requirements for credit risk, market risk and valuation, including links with accounting such as IFRS 9 and IRB as required by each client project.
• Assist in identifying, developing, testing and implementing IFRS accounting operational and reporting solutions that meet financial and regulatory reporting needs, and map financial reporting processes and adjust control procedures.
• Identify and document engagement issues and conclusions, consulting with the right firm members as needed.
• Prioritise multiple tasks, take accountability for defined work assignments and deliver to the team's and client's expectations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree from a reputable university, preferably in industrial engineering, business administration, economics or a similar discipline.
• At least 2-3 years of work experience in a local Big 4 firm, another international consulting firm or the banking sector.
• Experience in accounting/auditing in the financial services sector and an understanding of accounting and reporting principles; knowledge of IFRS 9 is an advantage.
• Excellent command of English, strong written and verbal communication, teamwork, presentation and client management skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with scientific computing languages and frameworks such as Python (numpy, pandas, scipy) and/or R (tidyverse, caret, ggplot2, data.table).
• Good command of MS Office applications.
• Strong analytical and process analysis skills.
