Full-Stack Engineer (Remote, Istanbul)

About the role

Surgo Health builds the Behavioral Intelligence layer for healthcare, using AI to predict behaviour and help organisations make decisions that change outcomes. It is looking for a Full-Stack Engineer to join its R&D Engineering team building Derin, an AI-powered interview platform that runs conversational, LLM-led interviews with thousands of participants. The role is remote, based in Istanbul, with substantial overlap with US Eastern and UK hours.

Key responsibilities

• Own features end to end: client dashboard, participant survey app and internal admin tools in TypeScript and React, plus the APIs and database behind them in TypeScript and Python.
• Use AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor and others) to design, build, debug and optimise code.
• Build and evolve the results dashboard and web app in Next.js and React, from visualisations and filters to multilingual surveys.
• Implement the APIs (NestJS, Prisma, PostgreSQL) and contribute to Python services (FastAPI), including access control, exports and data retention.
• Turn product requirements into reusable components in the shared design system.
• Keep the product fast and reliable: server-side rendering, caching, pagination and performance tuning on large datasets.
• Ensure quality through automated tests, code reviews and observability.
• Help run the release process (develop to production), including hotfixes and security updates.
• Handle sensitive participant data in a SOC 2 and HIPAA-compliant environment.
• Work with product managers, designers, researchers and backend engineers, and help shape the engineering culture.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of professional experience building web applications with TypeScript.
• University degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Fluent written and spoken English, able to work remotely with overlap to US Eastern and UK hours.
• Independent, proactive, able to deliver features end to end with minimal supervision.
• AI-native: uses agentic tools daily and knows how to set them up and when not to trust their output.

Required skills

• Production experience with React and Next.js (App Router, server components/SSR).
• Backend APIs on a relational database, ideally PostgreSQL, in Node.js (NestJS) and Python (FastAPI).
• Data-heavy interfaces: dashboards, charts (Recharts, D3), tables and complex filters.
• Testing (Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright, pytest) and CI/CD.
• A plus: component libraries or design systems (e.g. MUI), i18n, LLM-powered features, and Microsoft Azure.
