IT Intern - Front and Back End Developer

About the role

Viravira is looking for an IT intern to join its development team and work on both front-end and back-end programming. The internship focuses on coding, testing and debugging new software so that business needs become robust, integrated technology solutions. High-performing candidates will be hired after the internship ends.

Key responsibilities

• Develop front-end website architecture and design user interactions on web pages.
• Develop back-end website applications and ensure their responsiveness.
• Work with graphic designers on web design features.
• Stay up to date with developments in web applications and programming languages.
• Work directly with product ownership to solve complex challenges and provide stable solutions.
• Troubleshoot production bugs using available resources.
• Track server errors and monitor uptime.
• Complete all assigned tasks within the given specifications and timelines, and continuously learn new technologies.

Required profile

• Senior undergraduate or postgraduate student, or recent graduate, in computer engineering, electrical and electronics engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficiency in English.
• Good problem-solving, attention to detail, and good communication and documentation skills.

Required skills

• Exposure to web application development with JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
• Familiarity with Node.js and frameworks such as Express.
• Understanding of asynchronous programming, scalable application design and microservices architecture.
• Knowledge of automated testing platforms and unit tests, and of code versioning tools such as Git.
• Understanding of the network stack (sockets, HTTP).
• Knowledge of the GNU/Linux operating system.
