Junior Backend Engineer

About the role

Papcorns is looking for a Junior Backend Engineer to join its Istanbul team. You will work closely with mobile engineers, designers, and product managers to build and maintain the backend systems that power mobile apps used by millions worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services and REST APIs that support mobile applications at scale.
• Collaborate with mobile engineers to define data models and API contracts.
• Maintain infrastructure reliability, focusing on performance, scalability, and monitoring.
• Integrate third‑party services such as AI, analytics, and payments.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical decision‑making.

Required profile

• 1–2 years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong command of written and spoken English.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with teammates and communicate ideas clearly.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Node.js.
• Experience designing and building REST APIs.
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
• Familiarity with Firestore or comparable NoSQL databases.
• Basic knowledge of Google Cloud Platform and Firebase.
• Version control using Git.
• Ability to write and maintain code with AI‑assisted IDEs (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, Antigravity).
