Lead Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (VMware, Ansible, Terraform)

About the role

Turknet is looking for a Lead Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to architect, automate and maintain its high-availability VMware environments across multi-site clusters. The role covers infrastructure as code, storage and performance tuning, capacity planning, data protection and the evaluation of next-generation virtualization options.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and scale high-availability VMware environments across multi-site clusters, ensuring performance and resilience.
• Automate manual workflows into pipelines using Ansible, Python and PowerCLI.
• Manage and version-control the environment with Git and Terraform/OpenTofu.
• Act as the final line of defense for complex issues, using Linux knowledge and Prometheus, Grafana and ELK.
• Design and manage Hitachi SAN and block storage, tune performance, NUMA boundaries, SCSI controllers and cache disks.
• Support and optimize infrastructure for Kubernetes deployments (Tanzu, Rancher or vanilla K8s).
• Handle capacity planning, prepare kitlists for new deployments and lead the technical side of procurement.
• Own the backup and replication strategy with Veeam and site replication to protect against data loss.
• Help evaluate and possibly integrate OpenStack, Proxmox or KVM.

Required profile

• Extensive experience with VMware vSphere (vCenter, ESXi, multi-site clusters).
• Hands-on experience with Ansible and Python; PowerCLI proficiency is a must.
• Strong Linux administration skills, including kernel tuning and performance optimization.
• Experience with container runtimes and orchestrators (Docker, Kubernetes) and their interaction with hypervisors.
• Knowledge of NUMA architecture, hardware-level tuning and multisite replication.
• Open source mindset and interest in OpenStack, Proxmox or KVM.
