Operations & Maintenance Manager - Baggage Handling Systems

About the role

Vanderlande, a global leader in airport baggage handling systems, is looking for an Operations & Maintenance Manager for its Istanbul Airport site. The role oversees the operational and maintenance activities of the entire baggage handling system, sets strategy, improves performance and secures compliance, and acts as the single point of contact for the customer on operational and technical issues.

Key responsibilities

• Hire, train and coach staff, manage day-to-day operations of a 24/7 airport service and run continuous improvement projects
• Manage the service contract, customer satisfaction, maintenance, reporting and business lines such as business analysis, vendor and risk management
• Work with sales teams to set and meet daily and quarterly goals, and take part in long-term planning, project reporting and change control
• Track weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual metrics, KPIs and financial aspects, and follow up continuous improvement projects
• Anticipate operational and tactical risks, complete reasonability testing and validation of findings before sharing them with stakeholders
• Maintain professional relationships with clients, internal business lines and external vendors, and stay up to date on industry regulations and technology
• Ensure staff availability, onboarding and professional development, and promote safety awareness among staff

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering (technical, electrical/mechanical or industrial)
• More than 10 years of team lead or management experience
• Background in automated handling systems, capital goods or system integration; airport or baggage handling experience is a big plus
• Proven experience as an operations and maintenance manager or similar, with familiarity with management, business and financial principles and reporting
• Excellent English and Turkish, and knowledge of service contracts is an advantage

• Ability to work with third-party service providers as subcontractors
• Long-term thinking (5 years), entrepreneurial drive and safety orientation
