Senior Backend Developer (Go)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Developer with deep Go expertise to design and build reliable, high‑throughput services for a business‑critical energy trading platform. The role is fully remote and offers the chance to work in an AI‑first development environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services with a focus on performance, reliability, security and maintainability.
• Utilise AI‑assisted coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI to accelerate delivery and improve code quality.
• Translate business requirements into precise technical specifications for both human developers and AI agents.
• Review and validate pull requests from developers and AI agents, ensuring alignment with architectural standards.
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend developers and other stakeholders to deliver critical functionality.
• Promote test‑driven development, maintain automated test coverage and integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Design and optimise database schemas across relational, key‑value and time‑series stores.
• Apply secure coding practices, address vulnerabilities and meet compliance requirements.
• Monitor and optimise system latency, throughput and resource utilisation.
• Mentor fellow engineers and share best practices.

Required profile

• 10+ years of backend development experience with responsibility for system architecture.
• Strong proficiency in Go; experience with Rust is a plus.
• Proven track record of building high‑throughput, low‑latency systems.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, concurrency and scalability.
• Experience with AI‑assisted development workflows.
• Hands‑on experience with test‑driven development, CI/CD and cloud‑native deployment (containers, Kubernetes, service meshes).
• Excellent written and spoken English and strong communication skills.
