Senior Native Mobile Engineer (Android & iOS) – Remote

About the role

Mode.Inc, a fast-growing technology company behind mobile apps and digital products reaching 100M+ monthly active users, is hiring a Senior Native Mobile Engineer to take ownership of its newly acquired VPN product and the apps it will acquire. The role covers Android and iOS end-to-end: a consumer VPN with 10M+ installs, 1,000+ servers in 45+ countries, and users in restrictive network environments. It is an ownership-heavy position involving inherited codebases, knowledge transfer from the acquired team, and improving engineering quality and release processes.

Key responsibilities

• Inherit and improve existing mobile codebases, close knowledge gaps and bring the apps into the company's engineering standards
• Integrate and debug native libraries (Go networking engine, OpenVPN via TunnelKit on iOS) and make the VPN fast and reliable
• Work with backend, DevOps/network engineers, product managers, designers and marketing to execute the strategic roadmap
• Use agentic AI to plan, implement, test and review work, and verify AI-generated output before production
• Focus on connection success rate, time-to-connect, crash-free sessions and subscription conversion
• Advocate for unit and integration testing, automated testing and continuous shipping to production

Required profile

• 5+ years of senior mobile engineering experience in an agile environment, shipping native apps on Android and iOS
• Passion for private, secure products and willingness to work closely with Product Management
• Experience shipping or maintaining large-scale consumer apps, with some technical leadership
• Nice to have: experience with consumer VPN or privacy products, Go, web frontend (React/TypeScript), CI/CD tools, Firebase, localization at scale and CI/CD setup
