Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator

About the role

ŞansTech is seeking a Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator to join its Database Management team. The role involves managing production and development PostgreSQL environments, automating processes, and supporting development teams.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and continuously improve PostgreSQL systems in production and development environments.
• Participate in maintenance, upgrades, and database migrations.
• Automate management of new and existing databases to ensure repeatable and scalable processes.
• Tune database performance using diagnostic tools to identify inefficient SQL and bottlenecks.
• Provide incident support, root‑cause analysis, and prevent recurring issues.
• Support development teams with schema design changes and query optimization.
• Manage backup, recovery, replication, and high‑availability strategies for PostgreSQL.

Required profile

• BSc degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator.
• Strong hands‑on experience with PostgreSQL in production environments.
• Solid understanding of PostgreSQL replication and high‑availability concepts.
• Experience with backup/recovery tools, disaster‑recovery best practices, and monitoring databases.

Required skills

• PostgreSQL administration and performance tuning.
• Replication, high‑availability, backup and recovery.
• Automation and configuration management (preferably Ansible).
• Unix/Linux shell scripting.
• Monitoring relational and NoSQL databases.
• Python (nice to have).
• NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Couchbase (nice to have).
• ETL tools and Big Data technologies (nice to have).
