Senior Shopify Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Shopify Engineer to join a remote engineering team delivering innovative digital commerce experiences for global brands and emerging ventures. Based in Turkey, you will own the creation of sophisticated Shopify solutions, from custom themes to purpose‑built applications, ensuring high performance, scalability, and accessibility.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of custom Shopify themes from scratch, translating UI/UX designs into responsive, pixel‑perfect storefronts.
• Architect, develop, and maintain custom Shopify applications tailored to client and business requirements.
• Optimize storefronts for speed, SEO, responsiveness, and scalability following modern engineering best practices.
• Design and implement integrations between Shopify and third‑party APIs, services, and platforms.
• Contribute to scalable technical architecture and make informed engineering decisions across projects.
• Collaborate with designers, strategists, product stakeholders, and fellow engineers to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
• Participate in modern development workflows, including version control, code reviews, CI/CD, testing, and deployment.
• Stay current with Shopify APIs, tools, and ecosystem updates, applying relevant innovations.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional front‑end or full‑stack development experience with a focus on Shopify.
• Proven ability to create custom Shopify themes from the ground up.
• Experience building private and public Shopify apps using Node.js and React or comparable technologies.
• Strong understanding of REST and GraphQL APIs and integration of third‑party services.
• Solid knowledge of performance optimization, responsive design, SEO best practices, and scalable Shopify architecture.
• Experience with Git‑based workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software engineering practices.
