Blockchain Security Engineer

About the role

ING is building its Digital Asset Services platform and seeks a Blockchain Security Engineer to design and implement secure custody and wallet management capabilities. You will work on blockchain SaaS integration, key lifecycle management and ensure enterprise‑grade security across the platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java‑based backend services for digital asset operations, including APIs and microservices for wallet administration and transaction signing.
• Implement secure key management processes, integrate with HSMs, vault solutions and support cryptographic operations.
• Build and optimise custody workflows, multi‑signature approval processes and segregation of duties controls.
• Collaborate with DevOps and Security teams to automate secure deployments and contribute to CI/CD pipelines.
• Engage with architects, blockchain engineers and compliance specialists for architecture reviews and security assessments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer or Software Engineering or related field.
• Fluent English communication (C1 level or above).
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Hands‑on experience with Java (Java 17 preferred) and Spring Boot.
• Experience with microservice architectures, RESTful APIs and event‑driven designs.
