Closing Team Leader

About the role

World Business Lenders (WBL) provides short-term commercial loans backed by real estate to small and medium-sized businesses. The Closing Team Leader supports the day-to-day operations of the Closing function, ensuring loans move efficiently from Clear-to-Close through funding while meeting quality standards, internal procedures and service-level agreements. The role gives hands-on leadership to Closing team members and coordinates with Title, Underwriting, Credit, Processing, Valuations, Legal and Funding, as well as closing attorneys, title companies and settlement agents.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the Closing Team's daily work, workload distribution, priorities and deadlines, and coach and train team members.
• Monitor the closing pipeline, turnaround times, workload and SLA compliance, and follow up on outstanding conditions, missing documents and pending approvals.
• Review closing packages and documents for completeness, accuracy and compliance, and help resolve routine issues and escalate complex exceptions.
• Work with Title, Underwriting, Credit, Processing, Valuations, Legal and Funding to keep transactions on schedule.
• Track title clearance requirements, liens, vesting issues and title commitments, and coordinate with title specialists and closing attorneys, title companies and settlement agents.
• Identify process gaps and bottlenecks, run quality checks on closing documentation and recommend improvements.
• Ensure closing activities follow company policies, legal requirements and investor requirements, and escalate risks and exceptions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree or equivalent preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in mortgage or commercial lending closing, title, escrow, settlement or related operations preferred.
• Experience guiding and training team members, managing loan pipelines and deadlines, and reviewing loan documentation.
• Preferred: commercial or private lending, non-QM mortgage lending, MCA, title insurance, escrow or settlement experience, and previous leadership in a closing role.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of loan closing, title clearance, collateral documentation and real estate-secured lending.
• Ability to coordinate workloads, prioritize deadlines and manage high-volume pipelines.
• Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
