Director of People & Culture

About the role

The Mandarin Oriental Bosphorus in Istanbul is seeking a visionary Director of People & Culture to shape the colleague experience and drive HR strategy across the luxury hotel. Reporting to the General Manager and sitting on the Executive Committee, you will champion a culture of excellence, inclusion, and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Define and lead the hotel’s People & Culture strategy aligned with business goals and brand values.
• Foster an inclusive, respectful work environment that engages and empowers colleagues.
• Build, coach, and manage the People & Culture team, ensuring effective succession planning and performance management.
• Oversee talent acquisition, workforce planning, and recruitment of high‑calibre staff.
• Design and deliver learning and development programmes for capability and leadership growth.
• Promote wellbeing, diversity, equity, and inclusion through daily practices and long‑term initiatives.
• Advise the Executive Committee on organisational effectiveness, culture, and talent management.
• Manage performance management, compensation, benefits, and recognition programmes.
• Ensure compliance with Turkish labour laws, social security, and company policies.
• Oversee colleague facilities, administrative affairs, and related services.
• Monitor engagement metrics and implement action plans to continuously improve the colleague experience.
• Partner with corporate People & Culture teams and ownership on reporting and initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of progressive HR or People & Culture leadership experience.
• Previous senior HR leadership role (Director or equivalent) in luxury hospitality.
• Proven track record of building and developing high‑performing People & Culture teams.
• Strong understanding of talent acquisition, learning & development, compensation, and compliance.
• Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and advisory skills.
