Engineering Delivery Manager
Progress Partners
Job description
About the role
Progress Partners, a fast-growing technology company building SaaS and mobile platforms, is hiring an Engineering Delivery Manager to strengthen delivery predictability, quality and visibility across its external engineering teams. It is a strategic, company-side delivery role, not a traditional line-management role: you will not manage engineers directly but will work with lead-level stakeholders across several teams to surface risks early and drive measurable improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Build visibility into what each external team is working on, who owns what and where delivery risk sits, and track progress against realistic, transparent delivery plans.
- Spot teams falling behind early, diagnose root causes and challenge weak plans, unrealistic estimates and superficial status reporting.
- Improve planning and forecasting discipline, moving teams toward evidence-based delivery.
- Work with QA and engineering leads to make quality visible, tracking escaped bugs, rework and release readiness, and supporting Definition of Ready / Definition of Done and quality gates.
- Track cross-team dependencies, ensure blockers are resolved and run clear, fact-based escalation paths.
- Understand each team's composition, seniority mix and capability gaps, and ensure teams follow agreed delivery rules, standards and reporting practices.
- Build vendor/team delivery scorecards and create escalation paths when commitments are missed or quality falls short.
- Communicate delivery status, risks and trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required profile
- 7+ years in software delivery, technical or engineering delivery management, technical program management or engineering leadership.
- Proven experience managing delivery across multiple external teams, vendors or distributed partners, including groups of roughly 20-35 people.
- Strong grasp of software development lifecycles, agile delivery, estimation, release planning, QA workflows and engineering team dynamics.
- Excellent communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Nice to have: multi-product SaaS experience, vendor scorecard experience, and experience introducing Definition of Ready/Done, release checklists or quality gates.
Required skills
- Delivery metrics fluency: planned vs. actual, cycle time, throughput, escaped bugs, rework, blocked work and predictability.
- Risk and dependency management.
- Hands-on with delivery and engineering tools such as Jira, GitHub, Confluence, Linear or Azure DevOps.
What we offer
- Fully remote, work from anywhere with flexible hours measured by outcomes.
- Unlimited PTO and a learning and development budget.
- Home office and wellness allowance.
- A small, senior, collaborative team and the chance to build products used by millions of people.
The interview process includes a 30-minute initial screen, a 60-minute technical interview, a 2-4 hour take-home assessment and a final 60-minute interview with the CTO.
