Firefighter / Driver-Operator (Airfield & HAZMAT)

About the role

KBR supports the operational needs of U.S. armed forces at Morón Air Base in Spain and several bases in Turkey, providing program management, civil engineering, morale, welfare and recreation support. This Firefighter position involves driving and operating complex firefighting vehicles for airfield, structural, crash-rescue and HAZMAT operations, acting as a first responder to protect persons, property and the environment.

Key responsibilities

• Safely operate fire department apparatus in emergency and non-emergency conditions, including pumpers, Quint ladder trucks, MWS and ARFF vehicles
• Perform crash-rescue and structural firefighting, rescue personnel and give first aid
• Maintain firefighting equipment and stations, respond to alarms and combat fires
• Carry out operational checks and maintenance on apparatus
• Provide EMR care and non-invasive emergency procedures at on-site accidents and emergencies
• Work at airfields handling aircraft and large volumes of fuel or hazardous cargo
• Do pre-fire planning by inspecting structures and their fire protection systems
• Follow health, safety and environmental rules, wear protective clothing and uniforms, and comply with respiratory protection and hearing conservation programs
• Handle heavy objects and lift people in emergencies; work under adverse conditions
• Conduct radio transmissions in English; may work in the Fire Alarm Communications Center and be certified as a relief dispatcher

Required profile

• Turkish citizenship
• English at minimum level III, able to speak, read, write and understand it
• High school diploma and a current driver's license (at least class C)
• 3+ years of firefighting experience in an organized fire protection function, with at least two years in aircraft crash, fire and rescue services
• DOD, Pro-Board or ISAC certifications: Firefighter II, Airport Firefighter, HAZMAT Operations, and Apparatus Driver Operator (Aircraft Rescue & Firefighting, Pumper, Mobile Water Supply, Aerial)
• CPR and Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification, and Munitions Fire Fighting course
• Ability to discern colors, contrast and depth

Required skills
