Junior Machine Learning Engineer

About the role

Ceiba is seeking a Junior Machine Learning Engineer to support the development of medical ML models, primarily focusing on multivariate time‑series analysis with future opportunities in computer vision and NLP. The role involves close collaboration with medical stakeholders to translate clinical problems into impactful ML solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Support development and improvement of medical ML models, starting with multivariate time‑series data and expanding to CV and NLP projects.
• Assist the full model lifecycle: data preparation, training, evaluation, and detailed error analysis.
• Collaborate with medical staff and internal teams to align technical implementation with clinical needs.
• Maintain and improve model‑serving pipelines, monitoring basics, and production reliability.
• Contribute to experiment tracking, reproducibility, and documentation of experiments and model behavior.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of programming experience and 3+ years of hands‑on machine learning experience (including internships, research, or personal projects).
• Strong self‑learning ability, coachability, and excellent English communication skills.

Required skills

• Python programming
• Machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Scikit‑learn
• Experience with experiment tracking tools (e.g., Weights & Biases)
• Basic API development knowledge (e.g., FastAPI)
• Familiarity with Docker, Linux, and cloud basics
