Legal Counsel (Turkey)

About the role

Maersk is seeking a qualified Turkish lawyer to join its legal team in Turkey. The Legal Counsel will provide comprehensive legal support across commercial, corporate, regulatory and procurement matters, ensuring compliance with local legislation and supporting the company’s strategic growth in the region.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial and procurement contracts and other legal documents.
• Monitor Turkish legislation and advise business units on legal implications.
• Manage all Turkish corporate matters, including board and general assembly documentation.
• Support strategic growth projects and investments within Maersk EME.
• Liaise with governmental authorities in Turkey.
• Engage and manage external legal counsel.
• Identify and mitigate legal risks in a pragmatic, risk‑based manner.
• Provide training to non‑legal colleagues on commercial contracting.
• Assist the claims team with major litigation or disputes in Turkey.
• Collaborate with Finance, Tax, Compliance and other functions.

Required profile

• Qualified Turkish lawyer.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in private practice or as in‑house counsel.
• Experience in transportation, logistics or related industries is a strong advantage.
• Solid exposure to corporate, regulatory and commercial legal issues.
• Proven ability to draft and negotiate contracts.
• Commercial mindset with high integrity and solution‑oriented approach.
• Effective communicator able to explain complex legal matters to non‑legal stakeholders.
• Well‑organized, punctual and fluent in Turkish and English.
