Mechanical Engineer – Drone World Record Project

About the role

OneSec is developing AI‑powered delivery drones and has built an experimental aircraft that set a new world record for flight duration. The Mechanical Engineer will own key mechanical design elements, iterate rapidly, and help push the record toward a six‑hour flight.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise the drone’s airframe, propulsion mounts, battery enclosures and landing gear in SolidWorks.
• Reduce overall weight while preserving strength, stiffness and safety margins.
• Produce prototypes using 3D printing, CNC machining, composite lay‑up and other rapid‑prototyping methods.
• Assemble, modify and repair physical prototypes in the workshop.
• Conduct structural, vibration, endurance and flight tests; analyse failures and redesign components quickly.
• Collaborate closely with electrical, propulsion and flight‑control engineers to ready the aircraft for an official record attempt.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics or a related technical field.
• Proven experience designing parts that have been manufactured and assembled.
• Hands‑on familiarity with 3D printing, CNC machining and composite fabrication.
• Comfortable using workshop tools such as drills, Dremels, saws, adhesives and hand tools.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and practical, iterative approach.
