Private Sector and Energy Investment Specialist

About the role

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is recruiting a Private Sector and Energy Investment Specialist in Istanbul, under the direct supervision of the Portfolio Lead, SDG Finance and Private Sector Development. The role supports UNDP's Istanbul Center for Private Sector in Development (ICPSD) in its SDG Financing and Private Sector Development portfolio, working with Country Offices, the Regional Bureau and the Sustainable Finance Hub. It draws on engineering experience in the energy sector and private sector engagement experience in post-conflict and crisis-affected settings.

Key responsibilities

• Lead qualitative and quantitative background analysis and technical due diligence on energy infrastructure and energy transition investments to inform project design and partnerships.
• Research energy markets, tariff structures and generation/grid technologies to shape new private sector engagement initiatives.
• Develop and quality-assure briefs, concept notes, strategy papers, partnership proposals and programme documents, including MOUs and monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
• Maintain an updated repository of technical data, research and partner intelligence for partnership identification and pipeline development.
• Analyze energy-sector investment opportunities, private sector engagement modalities and blended finance mechanisms to identify new co-financing opportunities.
• Coordinate programme and partnership activities, including securing venues, speakers and guests, drafting invitations, managing registrations and preparing press kits, logistics notes and briefing materials.
• Design and deliver research inputs for events, trainings and workshops, including speaker briefings and evidence syntheses.
