R&D Senior Design Electrical Engineer - Distribution Transformers

About the role

Hitachi Energy is looking for a Remote R&D Senior Design Electrical Engineer to join its global Distribution Transformers Engineering Standardization team. You will act as a subject matter expert in the electrical design and optimization of liquid-filled distribution transformers, developing and maintaining the StarLiquid global technical standards, supporting their implementation in engineering design systems and collaborating with factories and technology teams. The position is remote, based in the Dudullu-DT factory.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain StarLiquid electrical technical standards.
• Perform and review transformer electrical designs and calculations.
• Evaluate factory designs for cost, material and performance optimization.
• Review change requests and develop technically validated solutions.
• Support implementation and testing in CDS (common design system for transformer product design) and related engineering systems.
• Ensure compliance with StarLiquid requirements and international standards such as IEC, IEEE, GB and CSA.
• Support global factories with StarLiquid implementation and technical issues.
• Prepare technical documentation and provide training and engineering support.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, R&D, manufacturing, quality and software teams, and comply with external and internal regulations and procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of experience designing liquid-filled distribution transformers using CDS Electrical, NG CDSe or comparable software.
• Knowledge of StarLiquid, StarX, Design Anywhere Manufacture Anywhere or comparable standardization platforms.
• Experience with design-to-value, value engineering, cost optimization, global technical-standard development, factory engineering audits, design reviews and design-system validation.
• Knowledge of transformer manufacturing processes and electrical-to-mechanical interfaces, and experience supporting geographically distributed factories and multicultural teams.
• Fluent written and spoken English; about 10-20% travel per year.

Required skills

• CDS Electrical, NG CDSe or comparable transformer-design software.
• Azure DevOps or another structured requirements and change-management system.
• Familiarity with SharePoint, Power BI, engineering document management systems and controlled publication processes.
